2019 2019 2019, South East Asia’s region’s largest and focused grassroots Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) event is scheduled to be held from October 24th-25th 2019 at UCTI/APIIT, Kuala Lumpur. It is organized by the Malaysian National Computer Confederation (MNCC), an ICT confederation dedicated to the development of ICT Professionals and the creation of an Information Rich Society. is an annual event bringing together professionals and enthusiasts from Malaysia, Singapore, Asia and the rest of the world for a two day grassroots driven driven open source conference. It is strictly focused on FOSS sharing and learning, and the conference strongly promotes FOSS contribution and participation by delegates, in order to help build the Malaysian FOSS ecosystem.

Last year, the event has attracted hundreds of participants and after the phenomenal success of the previous conference, this year the event offers even more.

The conference features prominent Malaysian FOSS contributors as well as international FOSS developers and evangelists. The opening keynote is by John Lim who is the principle developer of ADOdb, the defacto and most widely used PHP database abstraction engine throughout the world.

Richard Matthew Stallman, the father of the Free Software movement, will be keynoting on the “Free (Bebas) Software Movement and the GNU/Linux operating system”. Richard is the author of the most popular FOSS copyright license (the GNU General Public License, generally referred to as the GPL) and the principle author of many important and widely used contributions including the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), GNU Debugger (GDB), Emacs text editor and many more.

Brian Aker will also be keynoting on Drizzle and MySQL database engines. He is the Director of Architecture at MySQL AB and he kick-started the Drizzle Project (an important code-branch of MySQL 6 which is jointly developed by Google, Canonical & Sun).
